Whilst the "New Age" of digital cameras is becoming more and more popular there are still those that like to use the more traditional film cameras, such as Single Lense Reflex (SLR) cameras as there are still some advantages that the SLR offers over the digital camera.
The first is that if you have a decent SLR and get your shots made as slides, they can be used to enlarge the photo to a much higher quality than you can get with a digital camera. Digital cameras are somewhat limited when it comes to the maximum size photo that they can take and enlarging digital photos is basically stretching whats already there to make it bigger. Its easy to make a larger image smaller with digital cameras, much more difficult is the other way around.
Of course if you have your photos developed as slides then they can be used in slide projectors, and the colour reproduction has been said by many to be more faithful to real life compared to what a digital camera can produce, the downsides being the cost of film development and the time factor in getting them developed.
The other advantage with film cameras, more precisely SLRs is the ability to change the lense to suit the photographic situation. There are a wide range of different types of lenses, including Macro lenses, Zoom, Fish Eye, and everything in between. Chopping and changing the lense for the prevelant condition enables the user to get much higher quality photos. Having said this however digital cameras also now have this function however there is only a limited number of digital cameras that have this function.
We hope this short article has given some insite, and it will be revised in the future...
