We are continually improving both the shop and the main website on a daily basis. Here we will share with you some of the major developments that arent so obvious and also forthcoming developments.

Today we added a cool little feature that displays our current eBay auctions on a page. We introduced this for a number of reasons;

1) Sometimes we have other items for sale that we dont sell in the shop.
2) Some people have asked us if we are the same 4-THIRDS seller on eBay, the answer is yes.
3) To make it easy for you to see our eBay feedback.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Whilst we have decided to introduce this, it is noteworthy to mention that we do not charge any postage if items are bought through this site, however we do if bought through eBay. This is because their listing fees are considerable and unfortunately this cost has to be passed on.

Many of our customers start off as eBay buyers who then come to the store after.

Today we introduced some major coding that allows us to give you the customer discount coupons!
We also have the ability to sell virtual gift vouchers but at this time we are unsure if we will actually sell these.
If you sign up to our newsletter, we usually include a discount code that can be redeemed when you check out your goods.

Today we introduced a simple PDF printable catalogue which you can download for free.
It contains direct links to all the goods and also details of price.

One of the latest buzz words on the internet is AJAX. Basically this searches as you type and we have implemented it on our Advanced Search feature!
Its worth a play just to see it in action, Click Here for more info.

The main site link has been added to the information box to remind people that this site is much more than just a shop.

Todays current weather in London is now in the top of the right column! More towns will be added to a separate page on the main site soon... more info when its all complete. If you scroll over the image it will tell you more accurately about the weather.

This has now been added to the footer, in the bottom right hand corner to take you to the top of the page. Just a simple piece of functionality, but one that might be useful now some of the pages are getting a little longer.

If your a webmaster and wish to have our shop`s content including details and prices please feel free to use our RSS Feed. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and theres a direct link to it in the footer in the bottom right hand corner.

If you want to bookmark the store theres now a really easy way, all you have to do is click the Add To Favourites link in the left hand column.

Froogle is Google`s price comparison site and we are listed on it! Click Here to see our products on Froogle`s UK site.

When you add something to your shopping cart, and then continue shopping there is now a checkout button in the shopping cart box. This makes it a bit easier to complete the checkout process.

As this page gets longer and longer, by default it opens with all of the pages by default. To collapse them click the Collapse button at the top or bottom of this page or alternatively you can Click Here.

We now have the function to compare products next to each other. Click Here for an example. If you click the products you wish to compare, the page first refreshes, after the second product is selected you can click the compare button and you are taken to a direct comparison page. This was suggestion by our customers so we implemented it.

Today we decided to introduce this to let you know about the developments of the site here.

Another popular comparison site is Kelkoo and we are now listed on there too!

On each product page under the photo and at the bottom of the page is a link to "Ask a Question" about the product in question. This makes it easier for you to ask any questions as you dont have to mention which product your asking about.

Its now possible to upload your own gallery photos via the store! Once logged in you will find some red text explaining where to go or if you look at the login box in the right hand column you will find it has changed into a box of useful links. One of these links is to the page where you can upload the photos. Of course you can still email them to us instead if you prefer.

Most of the boxes in the shops left and right columns now have clickable links that take you to a new page with more info.

It is now possible to sort each category by Price, or Product Name, just click on the headings and it will sort the columns!

Theres now a new, "What`s New?" box in the left column... it displays the new products in the store.

All of our products are now listed on Bidhopper, another price comparison site.

As a reminder our site uses 128 bit SSL secure technology so as soon as you have to enter any of your details they are secure. As a reminder we have put their logo in the bottom left of the site in the footer.

If you wouldnt like to create an account at the store, this is no problem as there is now the ability to buy without creating an account. This option is available when you check out, just choose the proceed directly to checkout option.

If you would like to receive our newsletter there is now an option to sign up for the newsletter in the right hand column. All you have to do is complete the 2 boxes and click Go.

If you would like to just reorder the same products as in your last order there is now an easy way! All you have to do is go to your account, view your old orders that you would like to reorder and at the bottom there is now a "Reorder" button. Clicking this automatically adds all of those products into your shopping cart ready for you to check out.

If you create an account or log into the store there is an added feature of being able to see the most recently viewed products at the bottom of the screen. This makes surfing around the site a little easier. If you are not interested in seeing this feature you can always turn it off using the little red or blue X`s. This feature is not available for non logged in customers.

When you log into the site, the log in box in column right changes into a useful box of links to various parts of the shop, eg your account, photo upload etc. This makes navigation around the site a little easier.

The ALT tags on all gallery pages have been changed. If you scroll over the photo it now shows the captor name, venue and weight of the fish. See it in action here -> 4THIRDS Gallery

When you order products, there is now a new print order facility available under My Account. Select a previous order and there is now a print order button in place. This was requested by some of our customers.

If you would like to see the product info in PDF format which you can save to your own hard drive there is now a PDF Logo in front of every product name. Clicking this opens the product info page in PDF format.

We have made a few adjustments to the checkout procedure and by combining some payment and shipping address info onto the same page streamlining the checkout procedure making it quicker to order.

A simple bookmark function has been added to the left column to add this site to your favourites. Just click the text, and your done.

The main site www.4THIRDS.co.uk has just had some changes to make the site MUCH faster to load. Basically each page is now compressed before it loads in your browser meaning faster page loads all round.

On each category page there is now a short description about the product, of course you can still click the photo or product name to read more about the product.

There is now an easy way to add more than 1 of a product if required as there is a new quantity box just above the Add to Cart button.

There is now a new feature that takes you to a page for each item located right next to the price. If you can find an equivalently priced item with free postage please let us know and we will do our best to match it!

We are currently developing a fast order process. If you know what you want and dont need to read the item descriptions then this is for you and its much easier and faster to order.... more news on this later.

A simple back button has been recently added to the checkout process to take you back to the previous page rather than using your browsers back button.

An order confirmation reminder has been added to the relevant page because a few customers get as far as confirming their order and then stop there. In order to complete the transaction the order must be first confirmed.

We have recently added a best sellers page showing the same content as is in the scrolling box in the right column. You can access it from the sitemap or clicking the scrolling boxes heading title.

If you now try to access the site from 4thirds.co.uk you now get redirected to www.4thirds.co.uk because if you access it from the latter theres no problem when using the secure pages of the shop.

Further code optimisation has lead to a small increase in speed in the store today, further optimisation is under way....

If you have forgotten your password there is the option to get a new one sent to you. This random password had both upper and lower case in it and if you wrote the password in lower case it would not be accepted. This has now been changed so lower case passwords will now be accepted.

A quick browser that has other products from the same category has been added to make surfing around the shop a little easier.

A quantity box has now been added to the category listings so if you know what you would like to order and dont need to read the item description you can add things to your cart quicker.

We have recently renewed our Geotrust SSL Cerificate, it now expires in 2009 for securing your information.

We have now introduced a cool new function that highlights words on a page from a search engine. Eg you search for PVA bags at Yahoo.co.uk and when you reach the page on our site, the search term (PVA bags) is automatically highlighted on the page.
If you browse to another page this then dissapears.
This will hopefully make it easier for users to find what they want when searching via the search engines.

We have recently added the average weight of the fish caught in each persons gallery in both pounds and kilos to the gallery pages. Check it out Click Here.

Recently we upgraded our server from a Pentium 4 processor to a Dual Xeon with 2MB of RAM. Basically this means that the whole site is MUCH faster which should make things nicer and faster for you to use.

We have now implemented a customer update function in your order history pages.
If you want to add some information about the order, eg you may wish to say its arrived safely then you can add this to your order via a comments box.
This keeps all of the information together related to that specific order.

Just a quickie to say that we have moved the entire site to a faster Dual Xeon server with more RAM, so the site should be faster to use.

If you select another country rather than the UK, the counties box is refreshed with the relevant counties for that country. This uses AJAX so the page isnt refreshed. Not a big feature but a clever one....

We have made a little change to the product info pages so they now include some tabs, with the idea being that more info can be put onto the page. Some people have asked us for more photos, and more specs about our goods, so we have introduced this. In the future we hope to have movies included in one of these tabs too....

We have now added a cool effect for the images, when you click to view the larger image you should see it. This helps the images stand out we think, giving a better presentation to you.

We have now added Google Checkout as a payment option. If you are having problems with your Paypal account we highly recommend this as an alternative!

Social bookmarking is where you add links to the sites to you like to a site ( eg digg.com). This helps you remember the sites you like and also lets you share the sites you like with your friends. We now have 4 major social bookmarking site links at the bottom of every product page.

We have now expaned the social bookmarks to include other book mark sites. If you are not sure what social bookmarking is, its a way to share the sites you like with other friends.
